Kenya Weekly Equities Market Update – 12th September 2025

Market Performance

The equities market continued its upward trajectory during the week, with the NSE 20 Index gaining the most at 1.7%, while the NSE 25, NSE 10, and NASI posted gains of 1.6%, 1.0%, and 0.2% respectively.

This pushed the year-to-date (YTD) performance to:

  • NSE 20: +46.6%
  • NASI: +42.6%
  • NSE 10: +33.8%
  • NSE 25: +33.8%

Market activity was supported by gains in large-cap stocks such as:

  • ABSA: +11.1%
  • NCBA: +9.8%
  • KCB: +3.9%

However, the overall performance was weighed down by losses in:

  • SCBK: -6.3%
  • Equity Group: -2.3%
  • Co-operative Bank: -2.0%

Market Activity

  • Turnover: Decreased by 36.5% to USD 35.2 million, from USD 55.3 million the previous week.
  • YTD Total Turnover: USD 694.6 million
  • Foreign Investor Flow: Foreign investors remained net sellers for the second consecutive week, with a net selling position of USD 4.1 million, compared to a net selling position of USD 9.1 million recorded the previous week.

This brings the YTD foreign net selling position to USD 32.0 million, compared to USD 16.9 million recorded over the same period in 2024.
